On December 16, 2019, Vice President Wang Qishan met with former Prime Minister Yukio Hatoyama of Japan and other representatives of former foreign political heavyweights and former diplomatic envoys to China attending the reception commemorating the 70th anniversary of the founding of the Chinese People's Institute of Foreign Affairs (CPIFA) at the Diaoyutai State Guesthouse.

On December 16, 2019, the Seminar on China’s People-to-people Diplomacy Theory was held in the Chinese People’s Institute of Foreign Affairs (CPIFA). Over 30 guests from ministries, social organizations, universities and think-tanks, including Honorary President Li Zhaoxing, President Wang Chao of CPIFA, President Li Xiaolin of the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, President Wu Hailong of the China Public Diplomacy Association, Senior Vice President Li Junru of the China Institute for Innovation & Development Strategy, Chairman Yang Jiemian of the academic affairs council of the Shanghai Institutes for International Studies and President Qi Zhenhong of the China Institute of International Studies attended the seminar.
