On the evening of September 30, 2024, a reception to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China (PRC) was held at the Great Hall of the People. General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, Chinese President and Chairman of the Central Military Commission Xi Jinping attended the reception and delivered an important speech. He stressed that over the past 75 years since the founding of the PRC, the CPC has united and led the Chinese people of all ethnic groups in working tirelessly to bring about the two miracles of rapid economic growth and enduring social stability. Tremendous changes have taken place in China, and the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation is now on an irreversible historical course. On the new journey in the new era, the Chinese people will surely create new and greater achievements and make new and greater contributions to the noble cause of peace and development for humanity.

Li Qiang presided over the reception. Zhao Leji, Wang Huning, Cai Qi, Ding Xuexiang, Li Xi, and Han Zheng were present at the reception which was attended by about 3,000 guests from home and abroad to celebrate the 75th birthday of the PRC.

The banquet hall of the Great Hall of the People was adorned with dazzling lights, permeating with a cheerful festive atmosphere. Hung above the rostrum was the solemn national emblem, with large digits "1949-2024" prominently displayed against the bright red flags.

At about 17:30, accompanied by the cheerful Tune of Welcome, Xi Jinping and other leaders walked into the banquet hall and waved to the attendees. The hall burst into applause.

The reception began. All stood up and sang the national anthem of the PRC. The magnificent March of the Volunteers echoed in the hall.

In the echoing sound of the horn, Xi Jinping stepped onto the rostrum and delivered an important speech. On behalf of the CPC Central Committee and the State Council, he first paid high tribute to the Chinese people of all ethnic groups, to the commanders and soldiers of the Chinese People's Liberation Army and the People's Armed Police Force, and to other political parties and personages without party affiliation. He extended sincere greetings to compatriots in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR), the Macao SAR, Taiwan as well as overseas Chinese. He expressed heartfelt gratitude to friendly countries and international friends who care about and support the PRC's pursuit of development.

Xi Jinping pointed out that on the new journey in the new era, the central task of the CPC and the country is to build itself into a stronger country and rejuvenate the Chinese nation on all fronts by pursuing Chinese modernization. The best way to celebrate the founding of the PRC is to steadily advance this great and unprecedented cause. To advance Chinese modernization, it is imperative to always uphold the core role of the CPC in exercising overall leadership and coordinating the efforts of all sides, uphold the Central Committee's authority and its centralized, unified leadership, persevere with full and rigorous self-governance, and use our own transformation to steer great social transformation. It is imperative to unswervingly follow the path of socialism with Chinese characteristics, further deepen reform and expand opening up in all respects, promote high-quality development and strive to maintain a firm grasp on the future of China's development and progress. It is imperative to uphold a people-centered approach, act for the people and rely on the people in everything we do, and work to ensure that the achievements of reform and development are shared by all through collective efforts. It is imperative to remain committed to the path of peaceful development, advocate vigorously peace, development, cooperation and mutual benefit, and promote world peace and tranquility and common progress of mankind.

Xi Jinping stressed that realizing the rejuvenation of the Chinese nation is a shared aspiration of all the sons and daughters of the Chinese nation, including compatriots in Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan. It is imperative to fully, faithfully and resolutely implement the policy of One Country, Two Systems, under which the people of Hong Kong administer Hong Kong and the people of Macao administer Macao, both with a high degree of autonomy. It is imperative to unswervingly promote long-term prosperity and stability in Hong Kong and Macao.

Xi Jinping pointed out that Taiwan is the sacred territory of China. Blood runs thicker than water, and fellow Chinese on both sides of the Taiwan Strait are one family bound by blood. It is imperative to stay committed to the one-China principle and the 1992 Consensus, deepen cross-Straits economic and cultural exchanges and cooperation, forge closer bonds between people on both sides of the Taiwan Strait, and strongly oppose "Taiwan independence" separatist activities. Realizing China's complete reunification is a surging popular trend. It is where the greater national interest lies, and it is what the people desire. The wheel of history will not be stopped by any individual or any force.

Xi Jinping stressed that humankind is living on the same Earth and people of all countries share a common destiny. It is imperative to practice the common values of humanity, advocate an equal and orderly multipolar world and a universally beneficial and inclusive economic globalization, and work to implement the Global Development Initiative, the Global Security Initiative and the Global Civilization Initiative, actively participate in reforming and developing the global governance system and build a community with a shared future for mankind.

Xi Jinping pointed out that after 75 years of strenuous efforts, Chinese modernization has unfolded a magnificent picture and presented a brilliantly promising future. At the same time, the road ahead cannot be smooth; there will inevitably be difficulties and challenges. Xi Jinping said, "We must remain mindful of potential dangers and be well-prepared, and resolutely overcome uncertainties and unexpected risks and challenges. No obstacle can hinder the progress of the Chinese people."

Amid joyful melody, guests from home and abroad toasted the 75th anniversary of the founding of the PRC. They wished China prosperity, the Chinese people well-being, and the friendship between the Chinese people and people of all other countries last forever.
