CPIFA Delegation Headed by Amb. Yang Yanyi Attends Round-table Dialogue on China-Philippines Relations, and Visits Indonesia and Vietnam

From October 8 to 15, the delegation composing 15 experts and scholars headed by Amb. Yang Yanyi, Member of Foreign Affairs Committee of the Chinese People’sPolitical Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and FormerChinese Ambassadorto Brunei and EuropeanUnion, attended the Round-table Dialogue on China-Philippines Relations. After the Round-table, Amb. Yang led a 6-member working group to Indonesia and Vietnam.
The Round-table Dialogue, with the theme of "Elevating Further Philippines-China Relations", was co-sponsored by the Chinese People's Institute of Foreign Affairs (CPIFA) and Philippine Council for Foreign Relations (PCFR).Delegates from both sides exchanged views on the topics of "China-Philippines Relationship" and "Regional Peace and Development". The Hon. Delfin Lorenzana, PhilippineNational Defense Secretary delivered a keynote speech at the opening ceremony.
In Indonesia, the delegation met with Jose Antonio Tavares, Director General of ASEAN Cooperation, Benny YP Siahaan, Director for ASEAN External Cooperation, and Santo Darmosumarto, Director for East Asian and Pacific Affairs of the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The delegation also visited Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS), and held in-depth talks with Jusuf Wanandi, Chair of the Board of Trustees of CSIS Foundation and young scholars there.
In Vietnam, the delegation met with Nguyen Huy Tang, Deputy Chairman of the Party Central Committee's Commission for External Relations,Nguyen Van Tho, Vice President of the Vietnam-China Friendship Association and Nguyen Vu Tung, President of the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam. The two sides exchanged views on China-Vietnam Relations and South China Sea, etc.
