Hon. Christy Clark, Premier of British Columbia, Canada Visits China to Promote Bilateral Trade

       At the invitation of Chinese People’s Institute of Foreign Affairs (CPIFA), Honorable Christy Clark, Premier of British Columbia, Canada, led a trade mission to China from November 22 to 28. The delegation visited Jiangsu, Sichuan, Chongqing and Beijing and met with Mr. Wei Hong, Governor of Sichuan Province, Mr. Huang Qifan, Mayor of Chongqing and Amb. Lu Shumin, Executive Vice President of CPIFA respectively. The Canadian guests also held substantive discussions with the senior executives of Chinese energy enterprises including CNPC, SINOPEC, CNOOC and financial institutions such as Bank of China and Agricultural Bank of China. The delegation also signed MOUs on trade cooperation respectively with the provincial government of Sichuan and the municipal government of Chongqing, and paid a visit to Rudong LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas) Project in Nantong, Jiangsu Province.

       The main focus of this visit was to expand trade relations and promote export of LNG to China. Premier Clark said that British Columbia attaches great importance to trade cooperation with China and is working hard to make British Columbia an attractive destination for Chinese companies.
