H.E. Dr. Sam Nujoma, Founding President of Namibia Visits China

At the invitation of the Chinese People’s Institute of Foreign Affairs (CPIFA), H.E. Dr. Sam Nujoma, Founding President of Namibia, leading a 25-member delegation, visited Beijing, Shanghai, Hainan and Shenzhen from November 14 to 23, 2013. Dr. Nujoma attended the 4th Roundtable Conference on China-Africa Cooperation in Wanning City, Hainan Province and made keynote speeches in the Opening Ceremony and China-Africa Entrepreneurs Forum. Dr. Nujoma met with H.E. Mr. Yu Zhengsheng, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and the Chairman of CPPCC. Ambassador Peng Keyu, Vice President of CPIFA, Madam Yin Yicui, Chairwoman of the Standing Committee of Zhejiang Province People’s Congress, Mr. Chen Zhirong, Vice Governor of Hainan Province, Mr. Niu Dun, Vice Minister of Agriculture, Mr. Wang Yong, Mayor of Sanya Municipal Government, Mr. Sun Huaizhong, Vice President of Shenzhen Friendship Association, met with and hosted welcoming banquets in honor of the Namibian delegation respectively. The delegation also had roundtable discussions with China Gezhouba Group International Engineering Co. Ltd., Shanghai Electric, East China Mineral Exploration & Development Bureau and Changshu Complete Sets of Slaughtering Equipment Co. Ltd. respectively.
Dr. Nujoma expressed his deep admiration on China’s achievements and gratitude for China’s long-term help and support to Namibia. He said Namibia cherishes long-term friendship with China and proposed to further improve the bilateral cooperation in various fields.
