At the invitation of the Chinese People’s Institute of Foreign Affairs (CPIFA), five U.S. congressional staff delegations organized respectively by U.S.-Asia Foundation, U.S.-Asia Institute and U.S.-China Policy Foundation visited Beijing and other cities of China in August. During their visits, the delegations met with officials of relevant ministries, including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of National Defense, the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Transport. They also held discussions with experts and scholars at China Association of International Trade, China Institute for International Studies and ChineseAcademy of Social Sciences. Some of them paid visit to Chinese companies and American enterprises doing business in China. The delegations exchanged views with Chinese side on a wide range of issues, particularly the China-US relations, bilateral economic cooperation and trade, military to military exchange and cooperation and regional security. Vice President Zhang Ping of CPIFA met with each delegation.
