Vice President Peng Keyu Spoke at China-Africa Think Tanks Forum in Ethiopia

At the invitation of the Institute of African Studies of Zhejiang Normal University and the Institute for Peace and Security Studies of Addis Ababa University, Amb. Peng Keyu, Vice President of CPIFA, attended the 2nd Meeting of the China-Africa Think Tanks Forum (CATTF Ⅱ) in Ethiopia from October 12 to 13, where he spoke on China-Africa Cooperation under New Situation: Opportunities and Challenges. Mr. Ato Demeke Mekonnen, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education of Ethiopia, Mr. Zheng Jiwei, Vice Governor of Zhejiang Province, Amb. Xie Xiaoyan, Chinese Ambassador to Ethiopia, Amb. Lu Shaye, Director-General of the Department of African Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Chen Dexi, Party Secretary of Zhejiang Normal University and senior officials from the African Union and the UN Economic Commission for Africa attended the opening ceremony and delivered keynote speeches. Around 80 scholars from think tanks in China, 15 African countries and other countries participated in the Forum. Under the theme of “Chinese and African Common Interests: Current Issues and Future Perspectives on Governance, Peace and Security”, participants had in-depth discussions on opportunities and challenges for China-Africa cooperation in the changed circumstances and China’s role in peace and security in Africa.
