Salzburg Governor Gabi Burgstaller Visits China

       At the invitation of the Chinese People's Institute of Foreign Affairs (CPIFA), Ms. Gabi Burgstaller, Governor of Land Salzburg of Austria, led a 35-member delegation to visit China from 15 to 22 March, 2012.

       During the visit, Mr. Wang Gang, Member of the Political Bureau of CPC Central Committee and Vice Chairman of the CPPCC National Committee, Mr. Dai Bingguo, State Councilor, Mr. Cai Wu, Minister of Culture, Mr. Shao Qiwei, Administrator of National Tourism Administration, Mr. Zhang Kunsheng, Assistant Foreign Minister, Mr. Xia Xinhua, Deputy Director-General of Civil Aviation Administration of China, and Mr. Cheng Lianyuan, Head of Chaoyang District, Beijing, met with the delegation. The delegation was also received by Mr. Han Zheng, Mayor of Shanghai, Mr. Qian Jinglin, Vice Chairman of Shanghai Municipal Committee of the CPPCC, Mr. Wang Xiankui, Governor of Heilongjiang Province, Mr. Li Yao, Vice Governor of Heilongjiang Province. Land Salzburg and the Chinese Ministry of Culture signed an agreement on co-hosting the exhibition of Mozart in China. A memorandum of understanding was signed by Land Salzburg and Heilongjiang Province on establishing friendly relations between the two Province/State. Members of the delegation also visited Austrian companies in China.
       The Chinese side emphasized that China attaches great importance to developing friendly relations and cooperation with Austria. China stands ready to work with Austria to Achieve win-win cooperation by further deeping pragmatic cooperation. The Chinese hosts expressed their hope that more fruitful results will be borne between Salzburg and Chinese Provinces and cities, as Salzburg plays a unique and important role in developing Sino-Austrian relations.
       Ms. Burgstaller said that Land Salzburg will build on its close exchanges with the Chinese side and hopes to intensify cooperation in the economic, cultural, education and tourism fields.
