A Syrian Delegation Visits China

At the invitation of the Chinese People’s Institute of Foreign Affairs (CPIFA), Mr. Haytham Manna, Deputy General Coordinator and head of the external branch of the Syrian National Coordination Body for Democratic Change led a delegation to visit China from February 6 to 9, 2012.
During the visit, Vice Foreign Minster Zhai Jun met with the delegation, and Amb. Lu Shumin, Vice President of CPIFA held a banquet in their honor. Officials from the Department of West Asian and North African Affairs of Foreign Ministry, and International Department of Central Committee of Communist Party of China had talks with the Syrian visitors respectively. They also had panel discussions on Syrian situation with the Chinese experts on Middle East affairs.
The delegation set forth the Body’s opinion and stand on Syrian current situation, appreciated China’s long-standing just position on the Middle East affairs and expressed the willingness to strengthen communication with China and the hope to see China playing a bigger role in striving for an early end to the Syrian crisis.
