At the invitation of the Chinese People’s Institute of Foreign Affairs (CPIFA), a 16-member US Californian Senate Delegation led by President Pro Tempore Darrell Steinberg visited Beijing, Xi’an and Nanjing from November 2 to 11, 2011. During their stay in Beijing, Amb. Chen Yonglong, Vice President of CPIFA hosted a luncheon in President Steinberg’s honor. The delegation had discussions with officials from the Central Business District of Chaoyang District, and doctors and nurses of Chaoyang Hospital respectively. During the stay in Xi’an, Vice Chairman Bai A’ying of the Standing Committee of Shanxi Provincial People’s Congress, met with the delegation and hosted a dinner in their honor. The delegation exchanged views on issues of common interest with professors of Xi’an Jiaotong University and officials from Qujiang New District. During the stay in Nanjing, Chairman Luo Zhijun and Vice Chairman Lin Xiangguo of the Standing Committee of Jiangsu Provincial People’s Congress, Vice Governor Li Yunfeng of Jiangsu Province, Chairman Miao Helin of the Nanjing People’s Political Consultative Conference, either met with the delegation or hosted the dinner in their honor. The two sides singed “Framework Agreement on New Energy Cooperation between Jiangsu Province of China and California State of the US”. The delegation also visited China Electric Equipment Group and Nanjing Jiangxinzhou sewage treatment plants.
