U.S. Senator Richard C. Shelby Visited Beijing

At the invitation of the Chinese People’s Institute of Foreign Affairs (CPIFA), U.S. Senator Richard C. Shelby (Republican, Alabama), Ranking Member of the U.S. Senate Banking Committee, visited Beijing during August 6-11.
During the visit, Mr. Wang Qishan, Vice Premier of the State Council, Mr. Lu Yongxiang, Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress, Mr. Zhou Xiaochuan, Governor of the People’s Bank of China, Ambassador Yang Wenchang, President of the CPIFA, Mr. Wu Hailong, Assistant Foreign Minister, and Mr. Wang Yongli, Vice President of the Bank of China, met with the delegation respectively. The two sides exchanged views on Sino-U.S. relations, bilateral economic and trade cooperation, international financial and economic situations, and U.S. domestic economic development.
Shelby said that U.S.-China relationship is the most important bilateral relationship and it’s of great significance for the U.S. and China to cooperate and make contribution to the stability of international financial system and the development of global economy.
The U.S. organizer, Mr. Richard Quick, President of the U.S.-Asia Foundation and Ms. Marsha Lefkovits, Executive Director of the Foundation accompanied the Shelbys’ visit in China.
