Former US Secretary of State Dr. Henry Kissinger visits China

Former US Secretary of State Dr. Henry Kissinger visited Beijing and Chongqing at the invitation of the Chinese People’s Institute of Foreign Affairs (CPIFA) from June 24 to 30. During his stay in Beijing, he was met with or hosted by Vice President Xi Jinping, Vice Premier Wang Qishan, Minister of CPC Organization Department Li Yuanchao, former Premier Zhu Rongji, State Councilor Dai Bingguo, former State Councilor Tang Jiaxuan, Chairman of China Development Bank Chen Yuan, and former Vice President of CPC Central Party School Zheng Bijian. Dr. Kissinger also attended the 2nd Global Think Tank Forum sponsored by China Center for International Economic Exchanges (CCIEE) and Seminar Commemorating the 40th Anniversary of Dr. Kissinger’s First Visit to China sponsored by the CPIFA and addressed by State Councilor Dai Bingguo. During his stay in Chongqing, Secretary of CPC Chongqing Municipal Committee Bo Xilai, Mayor Huang Qifan met with and hosted lunch or dinner in honor of Dr. Kissinger respectively. Chairman of Chongqing Municipal People’s Congress Chen Guangguo, Chairwoman of Chongqing Municipal People’s Political Consultative Conference Xing Yuanmin greeted him at the airport upon his arrival or departure. Vice Mayor Liu Xuepu and Secretary General Xu Ming of CPC Chongqing Municipal Committee accompanied him on the visit.
