H.E. Mr. Keita, Former Prime Minister of Mali Visits China

       At the invitation of the Chinese People’s Institute of Foreign Affairs (CPIFA), H.E. Mr. Keita, Former Prime Minister of Mali and the President of Mali Reunion Party, visited Beijing and Zhejiang from May 22 to 28, 2011. Mr. Cheng Guoping, Assistant Foreign Minister, Mr. He Jun, Assistant Minister of the International Department of the Central Committee of the CPC, Ambassador Cheng Tao, Vice President of CPIFA, met with or hosted welcoming banquets in honor of the Mali delegation respectively. Mr. Cheng Weishan, Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of Zhejiang Province People’s Congress, Mr. Qian Jianmin, Mayor of Shaoxing City, and Madame Chen Xiuxian, Deputy Secretary of Yiwu Municipal Committee of the CPC, met with and hosted welcoming banquets respectively. The delegation also visited the Olympic venues and the National Center for the Performing Arts in Beijing, China Textile City in Shaoxing and the International Commodities City in Yiwu.

       Mr. Keita expressed his deep admiration on China’s achievements and gratitude for China’s long-term aid to Mali. He said, China was the beacon and still is a role model for African countries. China’s development is always the desirability for African People. Mali cherishes the Sino-Mali relations, which is the eternal national policy of Mali. Mr. Keita proposed to further improve the bilateral cooperation in other fields.
