U.S. House Delegation Visits China

       At the invitation of Chinese People's Institute of Foreign Affairs (CPIFA), a 21-member U.S. House Transportation and infrastructure Committee Delegation headed by Republican Representative John Duncan Jr. from Tennessee, Chairman of Highway and Transit Subcommittee of House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, visited Beijing from April 21 to 23, 2011. During the visit, Ambassador Li Zhaoxing, Chairman of Foreign Affairs Committee of NPC and Honorary President of CPIFA, Mr. Gao Hongfeng, Deputy Minister of Ministry of Transport, Mr. Wang Zhiguo, Deputy Minister of Ministry of Railways met with or hosted welcoming banquet in honor of the delegation respectively. The delegation also visited Beijing South Railway Station and Ameco Co.Ltd. The two sides exchanged views on Sino-U.S. relations, bilateral parliamentary exchanges, and cooperation on high-speed railways, transport and infrastructure. 

      Members of the delegation said that they were deeply impressed by the rapid development of China's modernization process and the U.S. and China should carry out a wide range of cooperation in the fields of high-speed railway development, transport and infrastructure.
