The 4th China-Japan Forum Held in Beijing

       The 4th China-Japan Forum was held in Beijing from Jan 11 to 12,co-sponsored by the Chinese People’s Institute of Foreign Affairs(CPIFA) and Japanese Institute for International Policy Studies(IIPS). Mr. Tang Jiaxuan, former Chinese State Councilor, Chairman of Chinese side of the 5th China-Japan Friendship Committee for the 21st Century and the senior advisor of CPIFA, delivered a keynote speech in the opening ceremony. Mr. Li Zhaoxing, the Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the 11th National People's Congress and the Honorary President of CPIFA, Mr. Yang Wenchang, the President of CPIFA, Mr. Hu Zhengyue , Assistant Foreign Minister, H.E. Mr. Niwa Uichiro, Ambassador of Japan to China, and Mr. Okawara Yoshio, the Standing Adviser of IIPS, addressed the forum. During the forum, H.E. Mr. Li Jianguo, Vice-chairman and Secretary-general of NPC Standing Committee met with the Japanese guests at the Great Hall of the People.

       Well-known scholars and experts from China and Japan had a candid and in-depth discussion on China-Japan relations and domestic situations of both countries, Northeastern Asia security and economic cooperation as well as the effective measures of promoting people’s feelings for each other. Both sides appealed to enhance mutual trust of strategy and security, nurture favorable mutual sentiments and promote the healthy and steady development of relations between China and Japan.
