Round Table Meeting Held Between Indian MEA Officials and Council Members of CPIFA

A round table meeting between Indian officials of Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) and council members of Chinese People’s Institute of Foreign Affairs (CPIFA) was held in the International Conference Room of CPIFA on June 21, 2010. Amb. Cai Jinbiao, Vice President of CPIFA chaired the meeting. The delegation of Indian MEA officials visited China at the invitation of Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA).
Mr. Zha Daojiong, professor of School of International Studies, Peking University, Mr. Pang Zhongying,professor of School of International Studies, Renmin University and Mr. Rong Ying, Vice President of China Institute of International Studies (CIIS) briefed the Indian guests on China’s peaceful development and foreign policy, Sino-US and Sino-India relations, as well as China’s policy towards South-Asia. Both sides touched upon after the briefings on some key issues of common concern such as Asia-Pacific regional cooperation, Sino-US relations and Anti-terrorism situation in South-Asia. Ms. Neena Malhotra, Director of Indian MEA in charge of Southeast-Asia Affairs expressed her appreciation for holding the meeting. She said the Indian delegation benefits a lot from the meeting and the discussions, which will definitely facilitate mutual understanding between India and China.
