Former Ecuadoran President Gutierrez Visits China

At the invitation of CPIFA, Mr. Lucio Edwin Gutierrez Borbua, former President of the Republic of Ecuador together with his wife and their two daughters visited Beijing, Xian and Shanghai from 9 to 17 June, 2010. In Beijing, Mr. Chen Fengxiang, Vice Minister of International Department, Central Committee of CPC, and Mr. Cai Jinbiao, Vice President of CPIFA, met with and held banquets for Mr. Gutierrez and his family. In Xian and Shanghai, the family was received by Mr. Hongfeng, Vice Governor of the People’s Government of Shaanxi Province, and Mr. Sha Hailin, Deputy Secretary-General of the Shanghai Municipal People’s Government. Mr. Cai Jinbiao accompanied the family during their whole trip in China.
It is Mr. Gutierrez’s first visit to China since he left his post as the President. During the visit, he spoke highly of China’s great achievements in the past decades and the socialist system with Chinese characteristics. The former President showed great interest in China’s scenic spots of historical significance and its traditional culture. He also appreciated the magnificent architectures in Shanghai Expo. He expressed his continuous endeavor to promote the friendly relationship between Ecuador and China no matter in or out of the Presidential Office. At last, he described this trip as an unforgettable one.
