At the invitation of the Chinese People’s Institute of Foreign Affairs (CPIFA), the delegation of Nigerian Senate Committee on United Nations Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) visited Beijing from June 5 to 9, 2010. The delegation was led by Mr. Mahmud Bello, Senate Chief Whip, and consisted of Deputy Minority Leader, MDGs Committee officials from Senate and Presidential Office, and staff of the Foundation for Health-care Reform. Mr. Fan Xiaojian, Minister of the State Council Leading Group Office of Poverty Alleviation and Development (LGOP), Mr. Zhang Zhenzhong, Director of China Health Economics Institute (CHEI), Mr. Hou Peisen, Vice Director of China Center for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC) and Amb. Cai Jinbiao, Vice-president of CPIFA met with the delegation respectively. Also, relevant experts briefed the delegation on China’s policies and practice of poverty alleviation and health-care reform, as well as prevention and control of epidemics and other common diseases.
