Xi Jinping Meets with Chief Adviser of Bangladeshi Interim Government Muhammad Yunus

On the morning of March 28, 2025, President Xi Jinping met with Chief Adviser of the Bangladeshi Interim Government Muhammad Yunus at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.

Xi Jinping noted that Chinese and Bangladeshi peoples have a long-standing history of friendly exchanges, and the ancient Silk Road closely linked the two countries. The two sides have always supported each other and treated each other as equals for win-win cooperation since the establishment of diplomatic relations. China maintains a high degree of stability and continuity in its good-neighborly and friendly policy toward Bangladesh, remains firmly committed to the policy of good neighborliness and friendship with all people of Bangladesh, and is committed to being good neighbors, good friends and good partners of mutual trust with Bangladesh. This year marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of China-Bangladesh diplomatic relations, and the China-Bangladesh People-to-People Exchange Year. China is ready to work with Bangladesh to bring China-Bangladesh cooperation to new heights and deliver greater benefits to the two peoples.

Xi Jinping stressed that China and Bangladesh should continue to deepen political mutual trust and firmly support each other on issues related to each other's core interests and major concerns. China supports Bangladesh in safeguarding its national sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity, as well as in exploring a development path suited to its national conditions. China will further deepen reform comprehensively and expand high-standard opening-up, which will bring new opportunities for the development of Bangladesh and other countries around the world. China is ready to work with Bangladesh to advance high-quality Belt and Road cooperation, expand cooperation in the digital economy, green economy, marine economy, infrastructure construction, water conservancy, and other fields, enhance people-to-people and cultural exchanges, and promote mutual understanding and friendship between the people of both countries. China advocates for an equal and orderly multipolar world and universally beneficial and inclusive economic globalization, and is ready to strengthen multilateral coordination and cooperation with Bangladesh to advance the solidarity and strength of the Global South and build a community with a shared future for mankind.

Muhammad Yunus said Bangladesh and China share a profound friendship, and have always understood, respected and trusted each other. China is a reliable partner and friend of Bangladesh. Bangladesh firmly supports the one-China principle and opposes "Taiwan independence". The Bangladeshi side is willing to take the 50th anniversary of the establishment of Bangladesh-China diplomatic relations as an opportunity to work with the Chinese side to push for greater development of the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between the two countries. The two nations should deepen Belt and Road cooperation. Bangladesh welcomes more Chinese enterprises to invest in the country, which will help promote its economic transition. Bangladesh highly appreciates the three global initiatives and other important ideas proposed by President Xi Jinping, and is willing to closely coordinate with China to jointly seize opportunities, address challenges, and uphold world peace, stability, development, and prosperity.
