President Wang Chao Leads a Delegation to Visit Australia and Attend the 8th Meeting of China-Australia High Level Dialogue

From August 13 to 17, 2024, Mr. Wang Chao, President of the Chinese People’s Institute of Foreign Affairs (CPIFA), led a Chinese delegation to visit Australia and attended the 8th Meeting of China-Australia High Level Dialogue co-hosted by the CPIFA and the National Foundation for Australia-China Relations in Adelaide. In Sydney, the Chinese delegation met with Former Australian Prime Minister Paul Keating and held a round-table discussion with over 20 experts, scholars and business representatives organized by the Australia-China Relations Institute at the University of Technology Sydney.
On August 16, the 8th Meeting of China-Australia High level Dialogue was held. Mr. Wang Chao, Executive Head of the Chinese Delegation, read the written speech of Mr. Li Zhaoxing, Head of Chinese Delegation and Honorary President of the CPIFA, and co-chaired the meeting with Dr. Craig Emerson, Head of the Australian Delegation and Former Trade Minister of Australia. Representatives on both sides from government, business, academia, education, arts and media circles attended the meeting, engaging in extensive exchanges on four topics: bilateral relations, economic and trade cooperation, international and regional issues, and people-to-people exchanges. Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong attended the luncheon and delivered a speech. Governor of South Australia Frances Adamson held a welcome dinner for the delegations from both sides.
The Chinese delegates mainly include: Amb. Xiao Qian, Chinese Ambassador to Australia, Dr. Qiu Yuanping, Former Executive Deputy Director of the Office of the Foreign Affairs Leading Group of the CPC Central Committee, Amb. Cui Tiankai, Advisor to the CPIFA Council, Prof. Li Junru, Former Vice President of the Party School of the CPC Central Committee, Prof. Jiang Xiaojuan, Former Deputy Secretary-General of the State Council, Amb. Zou Xiaoli, Vice President of the CPIFA, Ms. Zhang Hui, Vice Secretary of the CPC Qingdao Municipal Committee, etc.
The Australian delegates mainly include: Ms. Jan Adams, Secretary of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade and Former Australian Ambassador to China, Amb. Scott Dewar, Australian Ambassador to China, Ms. Julie Bishop, Chancellor of the Australian National University and Former Australian Foreign Minister, Ms. Pru Bennett, Chair of the National Foundation for Australia-China Relations, Mr. Gary Cowan, Chief Executive Officer of the National Foundation for Australia-China Relations, Mr. Darren Miller, Chief Executive Officer of the Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA), etc.
