On January 9, 2024, the China Institute of International Studies and the China Foundation for International Studies co-hosted the Symposium on the International Situation and China's Foreign Relations in 2023 in Beijing. Mr.Wang Yi, Member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and Foreign Minister attended the opening ceremony and delivered a keynote speech.
 
Wang Chao, President of the Chinese People’s Institute of Foreign Affairs (CPIFA) attended the symposium and delivered a speech at the plenary session entitled World Significance of  Xi Jinping Thought on Diplomacy. In his speech, President Wang Chao said that as the chief architect of major-country diplomacy with Chinese characteristics, General Secretary Xi Jinping scientifically judged the general trend of the world and the historical position of our country, put forward a series of original diplomatic strategies and major initiatives, founded and developed the Xi Jinping Thought on Diplomacy. Xi Jinping Thought on Diplomacy which contains distinctive Chinese features and the shared values of humanity,  transcends national and regional parochialism, has far-reaching global influence, and writes a new chapter in the progress of human political civilization.
 
President Wang Chao pointed out that Xi Jinping Thought on Diplomacy has strong practical power and provides fundamental guidance for people's diplomacy. Under the guidance of the Xi Jinping Thought on Diplomacy, Chinese People’s Institute of Foreign Affairs will continue to make friends for our country and present China’s stories to the world, enhance the international community's understanding and recognition of China's foreign policy and explore the road of major-country people’s diplomacy with Chinese characteristics on the new journey in the new era.
