The Eco Forum Global Guiyang 2023 was held in Guiyang, Guizhou Province, from July 8 to 9. Liu Guozhong, Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Vice Premier of China, attended the opening ceremony and delivered a keynote speech. Dai Bingguo, former State Councilor attended the forum. Foreign political dignitaries including Teodoro Nguema Obiang Mangue, Vice President of the Republic of Equatorial Guinea, Chang Lih Kang, Vice President of the People’s Justice Party of Malaysia, Indira Rana, Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives of Nepal, addressed the opening ceremony. Yukio Hatoyama, former Prime Minister of Japan, and Bruno Oberle, former Director General of the International Union for Conservation of Nature, delivered video speeches. More than 3,200 participants from 42 countries and regions attended the forum.   

Vice President Li Huilai of the Chinese People’s Institute of Foreign Affairs (CPIFA) was invited to attend the forum and delivered a speech at the sub-forum themed “Implementing Global Development Initiative, Facilitating Green and Low- Carbon Development”. Li pointed out that with the implementation of Xi Jinping Thought on Eco-Civilization and promotion of the concept and practice of eco-civilization and sustainable development, Eco Forum Global Guiyang has become a well-known brand of China to promote communication and cooperation in eco-civilization with the rest of the world. CPIFA, as the supporting partner of the forum, will continue to work together with the government of Guizhou Province, make use of the advantage of people-to-people diplomacy, advocate the concept of green development, promote international exchanges and cooperation in enviromental protection and climate change, and make joint efforts to the cause of global eco-civilization.      

The Eco Forum Global Guiyang is China's only national-level global forum focusing on ecological civilization. Since its inception in 2009, the forum has successfully convened 11 sessions. With the theme of “Pursuing Modernization of Harmony between Humanity and Nature—Promoting Green and Low-Carbon Development”, the forum includes oepning and closing ceremonies, themed sub-forums, exhibitions on the latest techniques, products and technologies in green and low-carbon industries, as well as business promotion activities.
