The Second Plenary Meeting of the Committee for Future Development of China-ROK Relations Held

On December 17, the Second Plenary Meeting of the Committee for Future Development of China-ROK Relations was held in Beijing and Seoul online and offline. Zhang Ping, Chairman of the Committee from the Chinese side and Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the 12th National People’s Congress of China, and Im Chae-Jeong, Chairman from the Korean side and former Chairman of the Korean National Assembly, addressed the opening ceremony. Wang Chao, Chairman of the Executive Committee from the Chinese side and President of the Chinese People’s Institute of Foreign Affairs (CPIFA), and his ROK counterpart, Hong Hyun-Ik, President of the Korean National Diplomatic Academy, delivered speeches at the meeting. The two sides spoke highly of the achievements made since the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and the ROK and exchanged views on the progress since the launching of the Committee and its future work.
Han Fangming, Deputy Director of the CPPCC Foreign Affairs Committee and Chairman of the Chahar Institute, Ning Fukui, former Chinese Ambassador to the ROK, Zhang Yuyan, Member of the CPPCC Foreign Affairs Committee and Director of the Institute of World Economics and Politics, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, and Shi Ling, Vice President of the CPIFA from the Chinese side, Oh Young-Joo, Directer of the Korea Institute of Foreign Affairs and National Security, Shin Jung-Seung, the former ROK ambassador to China, Kim Heung-Chong, Director of the Korea Institute for Foreign Economic Policy, and Non Jae-Heon, President of the Korean East Asian Cultural Center from the Korean side reported their work respectively as chairpersons of the 4 subcommittees, namely the Future Planning, the Political & Diplomatic Relations, the Economic & Trade Relations and the People-to-People Exchanges.
