President Wang Chao attended the 8th Global Baku Forum

On 4th November, President Wang Chao attended the 8th Global Baku Forum via video link, and delivered remarks on the panel “The Emerging Post-COVID-19 Global Order”. The Forum, held by Nizami Ganjavi International Center, with the theme of “The World after COVID-19”, invited the President of Azerbaijan H.E.Mr. Ilham Aliyev, heads of state and government, former state leaders, dignitaries from different countries and heads of international organizations to be present in Baku.

Wang Chao said that the world today is undergoing major changes unseen in a century, the COVID-19 pandemic is still raging in the world and global recovery remains precarious, and the international community is facing multiple challenges. Standing at a new historic crossroads, all countries must keep a  clear mind to build a more equitable and reasonable post-pandemic world order that follows the trend of history and contributes to human progress.

Wang Chao pointed out that in the post-COVID-19 world, peace and development still remain the theme of our times, which cannot be altered by a pandemic or any country. Globalization still holds the key to economic growth, the trend of economic globalizationin the future will be more open, inclusive, balanced and beneficial for all. Multilateralism still remainsas the cornerstone of the existing international order, the world needs true multilateralism, and all countries should abide by the purposes and principles of the UN Charter.

Wang Chao emphasized that this year marks the centenary of the founding of the CPC. Besides of bringing progress to China, the CPC’s political wisdom has also offered solutions to global governance in the changing world. China will continue to follow the path of peaceful development, stick to the development pattern of win-win cooperation, continue to uphold true multilateralism and play its role as a responsible major country.

Wang Chao also expounded on China’s position on the Reform of the UN Security Council and other issues.
