The 15th China-Singapore Forum Successfully Held
On October 27, 2021, the 15th China-Singapore Forum, co-organized by the Chinese People’s Institute of Foreign Affairs (CPIFA) and the East Asian Institute, National University of Singapore (NUS) was successfully held via video link. The Chinese and Singaporean delegations were respectively headed by Mr. Wang Chao, President of CPIFA and Mr.Tommy Koh, Chairman of the Center for International Law, NUS.
Wang Chao and Tommy Koh delivered opening remarks. The two sides conducted candid and in-depth exchanges on topics of “China-Singapore Cooperation: Towards Digitalisation, Innovation and Modernization” and “The Regional and International Order in the Wake of COVID-19”. Both sides agreed that since the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Singapore, our bilateral relations have maintained a momentum of development. The two countries have been continually enhancing mutual trust, economic cooperation, and people-to-people exchanges. Since the outbreak of COVID-19, we have been working together to overcome difficulties with mutual assistance, while bilateral cooperation rising against the trend. The economic and social development of the two countries and bilateral relations are now standing at a new historical starting point. Under the strategic guidance of the Chinese and Singaporean leaders, the two sides should maintain close exchanges and communication, working together to elevate the all-round cooperative partnership progressing with the times to a higher level. Singaporean delegates welcomed China’s interest in the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP).
About 30 delegates attended the forum. The Chinese delegation includes Amb. Wei Wei, former Chinese Ambassador to Singapore, Dr. Chi Fulin, President of China Institute for Reform and Development (CIRD), Ms. Shi Ling, Vice President of CPIFA, Prof. Zhao Jinping, former Director-General of Research Development of Foreign Economic Relations, Development Research Center of the State Council (DRC), Dr. Jiang Ruiping, former Vice President of China Foreign Affairs University (CFAU), and experts and scholars from institutions and universities including Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, China Center for International Economic Exchanges, Tsinghua University, Peking University, and China Institutes of Contemporary International Relations. The Singaporean delegation includes Amb. Zainul Abidin Rasheed, Non-Resident Ambassador to Kuwait, Ms. Tin Pei Ling, Chief Executive Officer of Business China, Mr. Lim Ming Yan, Chairman of Singapore Business Federation, and representatives from universities and media including NUS, Nanyang Technological University, Lianhe Zaobao, and Straits Times.
