US Congressional Staff Delegation Organized by the US-Asia Foundation Visits China

At the invitation of the Chinese People’s Institute of Foreign Affairs (CPIFA), US Congressional Staff Delegation organized by the US-Asia Foundation visited Beijing, Kunming and Shangri-la from August 8 to 16, 2019. 


During their stay in Beijing, Amb. Zhao Weiping, Vice President of CPIFA and officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs met with the delegation and exchanged views on China-US relations, bilateral economic and trade cooperation as well as other issues of common interest. The delegation also had a discussion with scholars of the Chinese Academy of Military Sciences, and visited Microsoft Research and Development Center.


In Kunming, Mr. Chen Hong, Chairman of the Foreign and Overseas Chinese Affairs Committee, the Standing Committee of Yunnan Provincial People’s Congress and Mr.Yang Shaocheng, Deputy Director-General of Yunnan Provincial Foreign Affairs Office met with the delegation respectively and briefed them on local economic and social development. The delegation also had a discussion with the Department of Commerce of Yunnan Province and the Yunnan Provincial Academy of Social Sciences, and visited Walmart. 


In Shangri-la, Mr.Cheng Peng, Vice Governor of Diqing Tibetan Autonomous State met with the delegation and exchanged views with them on local economic and social development. The delegation also visited Naisi Village and the Tibetan Cultural Exhibition Center.
