The 13th China-Singapore Forum Holds in Singapore

From November 27th to 28th, the 13th China-Singapore Forum (CSF), co-sponsored by the Chinese People’s Institute of Foreign Affairs (CPIFA) and the East Asian Institute, National University of Singapore (NUS), was held in Singapore.

The Chinese delegation was headed by Amb. Hu Zhengyue, Former Assistant Foreign Minister, and included Amb. Ou Boqian, Vice President of CPIFA, Amb. Zhang Jiuhuan, former ambassador to Singapore, and scholars and experts from Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Renmin University, China Foreign Affairs University, China Institute of International Studies, China Institute of Contemporary International Relations, National Institute for South China Sea Studies and Global Times. The Singaporean delegation was headed by Prof. Tommy Koh, Ambassador-at-Large and Chairman of the Centre for International Law of NUS and included Ambassador-at-Large Chan Heng Chee, Members of Parliament Mr. Lee Yi Shyan and Ms. Tin Pei Ling, scholars and executives from Singaporean renowned think tanks, institutions and enterprises, as well as chief editors of Singaporean mainstream media.

On November 27th, delegates from both sides conducted in-depth discussions on topics of “Bilateral Relations” and “Trade, Politics and the Future of Multilateralism” in the close-door session and Mr. Lawrence Wong, Minister for National Development and Second Minister for Finance of Singapore, held dialogue with the delegates. The public forum held on 28th with the theme of “China and ASEAN”, and attended by around 100 scholars, university students and journalists. 

The CSF was established in 1998. As a platform for track II dialogue, topics discussed at the CSF often involve politics, economy, people-to-people and cultural exchanges, international and regional cooperation. The CSF has become an effective channel for enhancing mutual understanding and friendly cooperation between China and ASEAN countries.
