Former French Foreign Minister Vedrine visits China and attends the Colloquium on Sino-French Relations

At the invitation of the Chinese People's Institute of Foreign Affairs (CPIFA), the former French Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hubert Vedrine, visited China with a delegation of experts, scholars and journalists from November 29 to December 3.

State Councilor Yang Jiechi, former State Councilor Dai Bingguo, President Wu Hailong of the CPIFA, Assistant Foreign Minister Liu Haixing and Vice President Zhang Junkuo of the Development Research Center of the State Council met with the delegation respectively. The two sides exchanged views on issues of common concern, such as China-France, China-EU relations and the current international situation.

On December 1, the delegation attended the Colloquium on the theme of "China-France and China-Europe Relations 2020" in Beijing, hosted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and organized by the CPIFA. Mr. Dai Bingguo delivered a speech at the opening ceremony, moderated by President Wu Hailong. Assistant Foreign Minister Liu Haixing made a keynote speech. French Ambassador to China Maurice Gourdault-Montagne and about 70 guests from Chinese government departments, universities, media and enterprises were present at the opening ceremony and the first session.

After the colloquium, some French delegates went to Shanghai for a meeting at Shanghai Institute for International Studies (SIIS). They also visited ZTE Corporation and Shanghai University of Electric Power.
