Fiji Parliamentarians visit China

At the invitation of the Chinese People’s Institute of Foreign Affairs (CPIFA), seven members of the Social Affairs Committee of Fiji Parliament headed by Chairman Viam Pillay visited Beijing, Shanxi and Liaoning from August 1 to 7. During their stay in Beijing, Ambassador Du Qiwen, Special Envoy of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China for Pacific Islands Forum, Mr. Zhang Yong, Deputy Director of the Legislative Affairs Commission of the National People’s Congress (NPC and Ambassador Chen Naiqing, Vice President of the CPIFA met with them respectively. The delegation also had an in-depth discussion with the China Disabled Person’s Federation (CDPF) on the protection of the rights of disabilities. In Shanxi and Liaoning Provinces, Mr. Zhang Maocai, Vice Chairman of Shanxi Provincial People’s Congress and Mr. Tong Zhiwu, Vice Chairman of Liaoning Provincial People’s Congress met with the delegation respectively. The two sides exchanged views on China-Fiji relations and the protection of cultural heritage.
