At the invitation of the Chinese People’s Institute of Foreign Affairs (CPIFA), Mr. Karl A. Lamers, Chairman of the Sub-Committee on NATO Partnerships (PCNP) of NATO Parliamentary Assembly, led a delegation, composed of 19 parliamentarians from 11 NATO member states, to visit Beijing and Shanghai from 25 to 29 July 2016. Amb. Wu Hailong, President of CPIFA, and Mr. Liu Haixing, Assistant Minister of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, met with the delegation respectively. The delegation also had meetings or seminars with senior officials from the International Department of the Central Committee of CPC, the Office of International Military Cooperation of the Ministry of National Defense and scholars from the China Institutes of Contemporary International Relations (CICIR), Chinese Institute of International Studies (CIIS) and Shanghai Institutes for International Studies (SIIS). The two sides exchanged views on Chinese foreign and security policies.
