At the invitation of the Chinese People’s Institute of Foreign Affairs (CPIFA), a delegation of Center for American Progress headed by Mr. John Podesta, who previously served as Chief of Staff to President Bill Clinton and Counselor to President Barack Obama on Climate Change and Energy Policy, visited Beijing from March 29 to April 2, 2015. During their stay in Beijing, Vice Premier Zhang Gaoli, State Councilor Yang Jiechi, Vice Chairman of Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference Tung Chee Hwa, Vice Chairman of Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference and Minister of Science and Technology Wan Gang, President of CPIFA Yang Wenchang, and senior officials from relevant ministries met with them respectively. The two sides exchanged views on the development of new model of major-country relationship between China and the US, climate change, and other issues of common interest.
