FORMER U.S. TRADE REPRESENTATIVE ROBERT ZOELLICK VISITS CHINA

At the invitation of the Chinese People’s Institute of Foreign Affairs (CPIFA), Mr. Robert Zoellick, former U.S. Trade Representative and former President of the World Bank visited Beijing from January 19 to 21. During his stay, Vice Premier Wang Yang and State Councilor Yang Jiechi met with him.
Wang Yang expressed the hope that China and the United States should further strengthen communication and mutual understanding,deepen pragmatic cooperation and effectively manage the differences to build a new model of major-country relations.
Mr. Zoellick spoke highly of the decision made by the Third Plenary Session of the 18th CPC Central Committee on major issues concerning comprehensively deepening of China’s reform. He expressed that as the initiator of U.S.-China Strategic Dialogue and proposer of the responsible stakeholder concept, he would play a positive role in helping to build a new model of major-country relations between China and the United States.
State Councilor Yang Jiechi exchanged views with him on China’s reform and opening-up as well as Sino-U.S. relations.
