The 2nd Forum of Interchange between China-Latin America and the Caribbean Think Tanks holds in BJ

On July 22nd and 23rd, the Second Forum of Interchange between China-Latin America and the Caribbean Think Tanks co-sponsored by China Foundation of International Studies (CFIS) and Chinese People’s Institute of Foreign Affairs (CPIFA) was successfully held in Beijing. H.E. Mr. Yang Jiechi, State Councilor, H.E. Mr. Cai Wu, Minister of Culture, H.E. Mr. Chen Fengxiang, Vice Minisiter of International Department of Central Committee of CPC, H.E. Mr. Wang Chao, Vice Minister of Commerce, H.E. Mr. Zhang Deguang, President of the CFIS and H.E. Mr. Yang Wenchang, President of the CPIFA attended the Opening Ceremony and delivered speeches respectively. H.E. Mr. Peng Keyu, Vice President of the CPIFA, delivered speech during the Luncheon.
The theme of the forum was “New Opportunities, New Challenges and New Thinking—China-LAC Relations under the New Situations”. More than 110 former high officials, senior diplomats, academic scholars, representatives of LAC diplomatic corps, media reporters and entrepreneurs from China and 16 Latin American and Caribbean countries attended the forum. The forum consisted of 3 sessions, including “New Issues and New Thinking for Business and Investment Cooperation between China and Latin American and the Caribbean Countries”, “The Current Status, Future Prospects and Suggestions for Cultural and People-to-People Exchanges (Think Tanks Exchanges Included) between China and Latin America and the Caribbean” and “How to Promote and Advance Holistic and Integrated Cooperation between China and Latin America and the Caribbean and Deepen the Comprehensive Cooperation Partnership between China and Latin America and the Caribbean”.
After in-depth discussion, the forum reached and released the important document titled “Beijing Understanding”.
