Professor Xu Kuangdi, Chinese Chairman of the Forum, recalled the successful visit of Premier Li Keqiang to Germany and said the visit had upgraded the bilateral relations in a significant way, which were now on the fast track of full-speed development. It is of great importance to hold this Forum against such a backdrop, when members of the two sides could have a full and in-depth discussionon issues of common interests. After eight years, the Chinese-German Dialogue Forum has provided an important platform for high-level non-governmental exchanges between the two countries, and contributed to enhancing mutual understanding and trust as an envoy of China-Germany friendship and cooperation.
Professor Bruno Braun, German Chairman of the Forum, said that as countries with important global influence, China and Germany needed to work together in tackling new problems and challenges across the world by deepening communications and cooperation in all fields.
During the Forum, Mr. Michael Georg Link, State Minister of Federal Foreign Office of Germany, and Mr. Wilfried Kretschman, Minister präsident of Baden-Württemberg, met with the delegates of both sides.
The Chinese-German Dialogue Forum, established in 2005, was initiated by the Prime Ministers of the two countries with annual meetings held in China and Germany alternately.
