U.S. Congressional Staff Delegations Visit China

At the invitation of the Chinese People’s Institute of Foreign Affairs (CPIFA), five U.S. congressional staff delegations organized respectively by the U.S.-Asia Foundation, U.S-Asia Institute and U.S.-China Policy Foundation visited Beijing and other cities of China from late March to early April. During their visit, the delegations met with officials of relevant ministries including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Transport and the Ministry of Commerce. They also had discussions with experts and scholars at China Institute for International Strategic Studies and China Foreign Affairs University. Some delegations paid visits to Chinese companies and American enterprises doing business in China. The delegations exchanged views with the Chinese side on a wide range of issues, particularly the China-U.S. relations, bilateral economic cooperation and trade, regional security as well as energy conservation and environmental protection. Vice President Zhang Ping of the CPIFA met with each delegation.
