Vice President Lu Shumin Attends the Bali Democracy Forum and Visits Indonesia

       From Nov. 7to 14 2012, Vice President Lu Shumin, as Special Representative of Ministry of Foreign Affairs, attended the Bali Democracy Forum V hosted by the Indonesian government and paid a visit to Jakarta after the forum.

       The theme of the forum was “Advancing Democratic Principles at the Global Setting”. Delegates including 12 national leaders and 35 ministerial level officials from 83 countries and international organizations attended the forum. Indonesian President H.E. Mr. Susilo Yudhoyono, South Korean President H.E. Mr. Lee Myung-bak and Australian Prime Minister H.E. Ms. Julia Gillard attended the forum as co-chairs.

       In the General Debate of Ministerial Level of the Day 1 forum, Vice President Lu Shumin delivered a keynote speech titled “Bear in Mind the Direction of Change, Push Forward Global Governance”, in which he comprehensively elaborated China’s opinions and standpoints on the issue of Global Governance.
       During the visit to Jakarta, Vice President Lu Shumin paid a courtesy call on H.E. Mr. Habibie, Former President of Indonesia, and officials of the Indonesian Foreign Ministry. The delegation also visited the Indonesian Council of World Affairs (ICWA) and Center of Strategic and International Studies (CSIS).
