Former US Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson Visits China

       At the invitation of the Chinese People’s Institute of Foreign Affairs (CPIFA), Mr. Henry Paulson, Chairman of the Paulson Institute at the University of Chicago and former US Treasury Secretary, led a four-member delegation visited Beijing, Tianjin, Shenzhen, Changsha, Boao and Guangzhou successively from March 25 to April 4, 2012. During the stay in Beijing, Vice Primer Wang Qishan, Minister Li Yuanchao of the Organization Department of CPC Central Committee, Chairman Zeng Peiyan of the China Center for International Economic Exchanges, Minister Zhou Shengxian of Environmental Protection, Minister Jiang Weixin of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, Mayor Guo Jinlong of Beijing Municipal Government, President Zheng Bijian of the China Institute for Innovation and Development Strategy, either met with him or hosted banquets in Mr. Paulson’s honor. Mr. Paulson also visited Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area, Tianjin Lishen Battery Joint-Stock Co., Ltd. and the headquarter of Ping An Insurance Group based in Shenzhen. During the stay in Changsha, Party Secretary Zhou Qiang of the Hunan Provincial Committee of the CPC, met with him and hosted a breakfast in Mr. Paulson’s honor; Mr. Paulson also visited Broad Group and Sany Group. During the stay in Boao, Mr. Paulson attended Boao Forum for Asia Annual Conference 2012. During the stay in Guangzhou, Party Secretary Wang Yang of the Guangdong Provincial Committee of the CPC, met with Mr. Paulson and hosted a dinner in his honor.

       Mr. Paulson exchanged views with the Chinese side on Sino-US relations, Sino-US economic and trade cooperation and urban sustainable development.
