Former US Defense Secretary Cohen Visits China

       At the invitation of Chinese People’s Institute of Foreign Affairs (CPIFA), Mr. William Cohen, Former Defense Secretary of US, visited China from March 15 to 22. Mr. Wang Qishan, Vice Premier of the State Council, Mr. Zhang Gaoli, Secretary of the CPC Tianjin Municipal Committee, Mr. Hu Xiaoyi, Vice Minister of Human Resources and Social Security, Mr. Zhang Lijun, Vice Minister of Environmental Protection, Mr. Wang Zhixue, Vice Minister of Science and Technology, Mr. Yu Kangzhen, Chief Veterinary Officer of the Ministry of Agriculture,Mr. Xiong Guangkai, Former President of the Institute of Strategic Studies, Ambassador Lu Shumin, Vice President of CPIFA, met with or hosted banquet for the delegation respectively. The two sides exchanged views on Sino-US relations, world economic situation, American Presidential Election, and other issues of common concern. Mr. Cohen also visited Tianjin Naikai University and delivered a speech on Self Improvement and Career Success.

       Mr. Cohen said the China-US relationship is undoubtedly the most important bilateral relationship in the world. He believed that increased dialogue and exchanges between two countries are indispensable for promoting mutual understanding and trust.
