The CPIFA Working Group Visits the United States

       At the invitation of the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in the United States of America, the CPIFA ( The Chinese People’s Institute of Foreign Affairs) Working Group led by Amb. Chen Yonglong , Vice President of the CPIFA, visited Los Angeles, Hawaii, San Francisco, Washington DC and New York from September 8th to 20th.

       During the stay in the US, the Group called on Mr. Harry Reid, Senate Majority Leader, Mr. Richard Shelby, Ranking Member of the Senate Banking Committee, Representative John B. Larson, Chair of the House Democratic Caucus, and Representative Jesse L. Jackson. The Group met with Mr. Zbigniew Brzezinski and Mr. Samuel Berger, Former Assistants to the President for National Security Affairs, Mr. George Shultz and Madam Madeleine Albright, Former Secretaries of States, Madame Elaine Chao, Former Secretary of Labor, Dr. Joseph Stiglitz, the Nobel Laureate in Economic Sciences and the former Chief Economist of the World Bank, Mr. Edwin Lee,Mayor of San Francisco, Mr. Malcolm Smith, New York State Senator. The Group also had exchanges with presidents and directors from National Committee on Sino-US Relations, US-Asia Institute, US-China Policy Foundation, the Foundation of International Relations of the California State Senate, Asian American Business Development Center, the East-West Center of Hawaii University, the U.S.-China Institute of the University of Southern California, Library of US Congress and Richard Nixon Library.
The two sides exchanged views on Sino-US relations, Sino-US economic and trade relations, US presidential election in 2012, and other regional and international issues of common interest.
