Former Hungarian Prime Minister Medgyessy Visits China

       At the invitation of the Chinese People’s Institute of Foreign Affairs (CPIFA), Dr. Peter Medgyessy, former Prime Minister of Hungary visited Urumqi and Beijing from 31 August to 7 September, 2011. On 1 September, together with Vice Premier Li Keqiang, Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari, Kyrgyz President Roza Otunbayeva, Azerbaijani Vice Prime Minister Abid Sharifov and Deputy Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Aset Issekeshev, Dr. Medgyessy attended the opening ceremony of the first China-Eurasia Expo and the first China-Eurasia Economic Development and Cooperation Forum, at which he delivered a keynote speech on Achieving Win-win Cooperation and Promoting Sustainable Development. Mr. Aisihaiti Kelimubai, Chairman of CPPCC of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, Mr. Chen Fenxiang, Vice Minister in charge of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, and Ambassador Cheng Tao, Vice President of CPIFA, met with Dr. Medgyessy. The two sides exchanged views on China-Europe and China-Hungary relations, European sovereign debt crisis, and political situation in Middle East and North Africa.
