The Delegation of the Society of Chinese Professors in Japan Visited China

From August 29th to September 4th, the Delegation of the Society of Chinese Professors in Japan(SCPJ) visited Beijing and Yunnan Province. During the stay in Beijing, Mr. Zhao Qizheng, Director of the Foreign Affairs Committee of CPPCC, Mr. Cui Tiankai, Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Xu Yousheng, Deputy Director of the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council and Mr. Huang Xingyuan, Secretary General of Chinese People’s Institute of Foreign Affairs met with the delegation respectively. CPIFA and the Institute of Sociology of the Chinese Academy of Social Science organized two seminars during which the delegation exchanged views with Chinese scholars and experts on Sino-Japan relations, the development of China and other issues of both concern. In Yunnan, the delegation visited Ruili and Tengchong, two cities located the China-Myanmar border, making an on-the-spot investigation on the local economic and social development, frontier trade and communication with South-East Asian countries.
The prosperous of border cities left a deep impression on all delegates. They spoke highly of the great development of China, and said they would like to introduce a real China to the Japanese when they get back to Japan, improving the Japanese people’s perception of China. The delegation also made several constructive suggestions for the local development of Yunnan Province, they said they would introduce more Japanese companies and institutions to cooperate with Yunnan in order to promote the comprehensive development of Yunnan Province.
In the Military Cemetery of Tengchong, the delegation laid a wreath in memory of the soldiers of Chinese Expeditionary Forces in World War II.
