The Second Meeting of the Second Sino-German Dialogue Forum was held in Berlin from 7 to 9 July. Around 30 members from both sides from the political, economic, cultural, academic fields and the media exchanged views in an open, candid and friendly atmosphere on how to facilitate market access, enhance cooperation in e-mobility, social security systems and intensify media exchanges. A number of suggestions were presented for a closer and deeper Sino-German cooperation.

Prof. Xu Kuangdi, Chinese Chairman of the Forum, pointed out that it was increasingly important for China and Germany to strengthen their bilateral ties while facing the challenges of global economic recovery and European debt crisis. The Forum provides a non-governmental platform on an equal footing to identify and address problems in the bilateral relations. That is why the Forum has maintained its vitality after six years’ operation. The suggestions presented by the Forum are valuable references for both governments and their leaders in policy-making.

Prof. Bruno Braun, German Chairman of the Forum, said that building and cementing mutual trust between Germany and China was essential for their future bilateral relationship. Only through sincere and open dialogue can the two sides bridge differences, expand consensus and enhance cooperation.

The Sino-German Dialogue Forum, established in 2005, was initiated by the Prime Ministers of two countries with annual meetings held in China and Germany alternately.
