The Chinese leader’s speech and Dr. Kissinger’s remarks were chaired by Mr. Wang Chao, President of the CPIFA and the panel discussion was moderated by Ms. Tian Wei, Anchor of China Global Television Network (CGTN). Over 600 guests from various sectors of China and the US attended the event via video link.
President Wang Chao said while chairing the event that this seminar is meaningful as we are celebrating the 99th birthday of Dr. Kissinger, which is a rare and beautiful moment in one’s life, for a review of his active efforts in promoting the development of China-US relations, and a discussion of his insights and issues concerning China-US relations, and expressing our best wishes for a better future of China-US relations. Wang Chao also said, since the normalization of China-US relations starting more than 50 years ago, many people in our two countries, like Dr. Kissinger, have been actively committed to pushing forward the development of China-US relations, because they firmly believe that doing so not only conforms to the interests of their own countries, but also to the common interests of the people of the two countries. No matter how the situation will change, the fact that China and the US share broad common interests will not change.
Since the 1990s, the CPIFA has hosted Dr. Kissinger’s visits to China for more than 40 times. This seminar is another important event themed with Dr. Kissinger since the Commemoration of the 50th Anniversary of Dr. Kissinger's Secret Trip to China held by the CPIFA last July.
