The Sixth Meeting of China-Canada Track Two Dialogue Successfully Held

On October19, the  Sixth Meeting of China-Canada Track Two Dialogue, cohosted by the Chinese People’s Institute of Foreign Affairs (CPIFA) and the China Institute of University of Alberta (CIUA), was held online successfully. The Chinese and Canadian delegations were headed respectively by Mr. Wang Chao, President of the CPIFA, and Professor Gordon Houlden, Director Emeritus of the CIUA. The two sides had candid and in-depth discussions on the topics such as promoting China-Canada exchanges and cooperation and properly handling sensitive issues. His Excellency Mr. Dominic Barton, Canadian Ambassador to China, and Ms. Lan Heping, Minister Counsellor of the Chinese Embassy in Canada, attended the meeting and delivered speeches.

The participants on the Chinese side include Mr. Wang Zaixi, former Vice Minister of Taiwan Work Office of the CPC Central Committee and former Vice President of Association for Relations Across the Taiwan Straits, Mr. Wei Jianguo, former Vice Minister of Commerce, Amb. Zhao Weiping, Vice President of the CPIFA, Amb. Zhang Junsai, former Chinese Ambassador to Canada, Mr. Ding Yifan, Vice Director of World Development Research Institute, Development Research Center of the State Council, andProf. Tang Xiaosong,Director of Center for Canadian Studies at Guangdong University of Foreign Studies. On the Canadian side, attendees are Mr. Lloyd Axworthy, former Canadian Foreign Minister, Mr. Ted Menzies, former Canadian Minister of State for Finance, Amb.Guy Saint-Jacques, former Canadian Ambassador to China, Ms.Wang Jia, Interim Director of the CIUA, and Mr. Ron MacIntosh, Ottawa Representative of the CIUA and former Director General of the Department of Strategic Planning, Research and Coordination of Global Affairs Canada.
